Through informative campaign, which will be implemented directly among the community as a target group, will be our voice that will inform them about their sexual and reproductive rights. The project „Through increased voice to better health services for the Roma women – continuationˮ is an activity of the National Roma Centrum which will implement in the following 12 months. Both, nationally and internationally. The NRC’s team will strive for continuous and equal approach to health protection for the Roma women and for the socially and economically vulnerable women in reproductive period.

We will be among the community. We will cooperate with the service providers and we will work to improve the reproductive health, to decrease the number of infant and maternal mortality through monitoring of the access to quality and guaranteed antenatal, perinatal and postnatal health services for the Roma women and for the economically vulnerable women in Macedonia.

In that context, we will organize informative points in Kumanovo, Kochani and Shtip, on places that will be available for the citizens who will show interest to hear and to learn about their rights and that will want to use them in their favor as equal citizens in Republic of Macedonia.

With previously designed methodology established by a group of experts and based on the statistics gathered from the terrain, we will try to portray the real situation from the practice. Especially we will target the policy makers and those who have influence in this country to change things.

Our increased voice will be send to policy decision makers, as well as to the service providers, with the emphasis of providers of sexual and reproductive services, with one and only goal – to provide the essential health services to those that need them the most.

In order to decrease the number of infant and maternal mortality, it is necessary to have an iron will from their side, as well as mutual action and mutual cooperation.

An equal access to preventive health services for women in reproductive period that are facing with financial difficulties is an urgent need in times of austerity and in the end of the day, the victims which are the weakest – the infants.

The prevention was and always will be the economically most cost – effective solution for every health system compared with the treatments, that is always more expensive. The health right is the basic human right as much as the right for a life.

Macedonia as a democratic society has laws for protection of its citizens in the field of health protection and sexual and reproductive health. Unfortunately, what is lacking is mechanism for implementation and sustainable and solid financial framework. Because of that, a group of citizens cannot use their basic human right – the right of access to health protection. That is the reason why we are planning to monitor the Program for mothers and children which contains free of charge preventive services for the Roma women and for the economically vulnerable women in reproductive period in the country.

The state should establish a sustainable system for health protection for the Roma women and for the socially and economically vulnerable women in antenatal period of their lives in the period from 2015 to 2017. This is of the expected results of the project. The another one is that we plan to cover total 80% of the pregnant women in three cities that we will operate and to inform them about their rights and which antenatal health services are free of charge and have right to use them.
